VIDEO PODCAST

These are video clips, viral video, easily shared through email, IM, reposting or adding to a blog or personal webpage. Viral video can be useful in Viral Marketing or Underground Marketing because it is usually formatted as a video clip and is easily accessible and shared. A Video Podcast can be a part of a series of episodes, but each episode is contained in a single flash file.

PODCAST

A podcast is an audio or video program; it can be easily downloaded to any iPod, mp3 player, cell phone or computer. Podcasts can be listened to and/or viewed as many times as your customer wants and by subscribing to the podcast RSS feed each new episode is immediately downloaded when it becomes available. Podcasts are distributed in an on-demand format on the internet and can be downloaded, archived on a website, listen to or viewed directly online. Podcasting is the updated way to provide information, entertainment and spur new ideas to broaden your customer base.

How do I track the podcast’s influence?

Customers will be offered a free subscription to a portion of each episode, a tip from an episode or the first few episodes in a series, depending on your company’s preference. The free episodes will be tracked by the number of downloads or counted with a site tracker. Your podcast’s style and show format will determine if your subscription will remain free. iTunes does not offer podcast tracking. But Podtractor, the industry’s leading statistic and analysis program, will track the amount of reposts, blog mentions, message board posts or search engine hits. Online surveys, such as Podtrac, can be added to any podcast.

What kind of a community will the customer join?

The community will be hosted on your website. If you already host an online community we can integrate it with the podcast community. There are many options to give your customers once they join the online community. We will assess your market and ask customers to either pay a fee for each download or purchase a series package. You may choose to give your customers free subscriptions to the series for providing you with their email address. Subscribers, of any kind, will be able to interact with one another via message boards, ask questions regarding the podcast they just heard/saw or be a part of creating the next series episode. We will work with you or your in-house website designer to encourage current community members to join your podcast community and make a seamless integration between both online communities.

How long should my podcast be?

The majority of podcasts are an average of 5-10 minutes long. The length of your podcast will depend on the podcast’s format and style. For example, if you are producing a comedy series then initially, 3-7 minutes will be appropriate. But, if you are producing an informative, host based, podcast then you can expect to produce a 10-20 minute podcast. If you include tip podcasts these are typically 1-3 minutes and can be produced from material in a previous podcast.
